Martin Schmidt
Director on Board
Martin has over 20 years of IT experience in industries ranging from government aircraft defense to retail merchandising. He was an integral part of a team of scientists developing the F-16 fighter aircraft avionics software used for training pilots at General Dynamics. Martin also led many successful high profile projects for retail companies such as Neiman Marcus, Levi Straus, Zales, and Michael’s Arts and Crafts. He was the technical lead for the implementation of Point of Sale, Distribution Center Logistics, and Clientele systems while also managing the support of nearly 100 retail servers over a nationwide network.
Currently Martin Serves as President and CEO of Magellan Information Technologies, Inc. Since founding Magellan, Martin has been involved in the installation and maintenance of merchandising, replenishment, real-time RFgun inventory/sales availability, data warehousing, business intelligence and the promotion/price optimization systems. Taking pride in his work, every project Martin directly led has been delivered ahead of schedule and under budget. In times when scope creep and a lack of resources have been accepted excuses for project delays/failures, he is a firm believer that small groups of highly skilled/trained individuals under the guidance of knowledgeable business partners is the best format for success verses large inefficient groups of consultants who become buried in their own documentation methodology and project plans while insufficient resources are trying to learn on the job, wasting time at the expense of the client. Martin’s motto is "Build it right, build it on-time".
Martin received his Bachelor’s degree in Math/Computer Science from the University of Illinois. While being dedicated to his work as well as his family, Martin also has a passion for missionary work and providing higher education for the less fortunate. He believes that a person’s desire to learn is his/her’s greatest asset.
